Furnace replacement planning

For a furnace replacement, describe the fuel, existing equipment, and the work you want included. If the furnace shares ductwork or controls with cooling equipment, include those details in the request too.

Does replacement include changes to the venting?

It may. Ask how the proposed equipment will take in combustion air and exhaust outdoors. Direct-vent, sealed-combustion equipment uses outdoor combustion air and a sealed exhaust route; the installation must suit the selected equipment.

Should I include the air conditioner in the conversation?

Yes, if the systems share components or if you are considering replacing both. Tell Air Zone which equipment you want to keep and ask for those assumptions to appear in the written scope.

What should I compare between quotes?

Compare model numbers, controls, duct and vent work, electrical scope, removal, permits, and warranty terms. Ask what is excluded and how any additional work would be approved. A price without that scope is difficult to compare.

Include in your inquiry

  • Current fuel: natural gas, oil, electric, or unknown
  • Furnace model and approximate age, if known
  • Location of the equipment and access to it
  • Whether the cooling system is also being replaced

These notes help you prepare an inquiry. Equipment selection, price, scheduling, and the work Air Zone can provide must be confirmed for your property.
